I really liked doing the eBay challenges...
I don’t know who made it a rule that the person with the first comment on the FP had the responsibility of pissing in EVERYBODYS Cheerios and ruining the whole excercise, but I have a message for that person:
In trunk...now! The gulag awaits.

The eBay challenge is back! And instead of an actual entry, the first and top rated response is just some pissant saying how awful the premise is.

This, I think.
The guy comes off like a dick, but I don’t think he’s completely wrong to say that buying a used luxury car to look rich is dumb.
In general though, I think buying any car to look rich is dumb. I saw a GL63 recently and my immediate thought was “oh man, that poor bastard probably got that used from a really shady dealer.”

So the point of an eBay challenge is a philosophical debate on proper motivation for why to buy a car?
Or is it just a way to have fun and shop for $10,000 used luxury cars that has now been ruined because people can’t not be serious for 10 seconds and this isn’t the first time this has happened?

Oh, don’t get me wrong. That guy is definitely a dick.
I agree with you, but this is really Kinja’s fault more than anything, since this dumb system is set up to foreground only the most controversial comments and to bury everything else.

The funny thing about that is, a used luxury car DOES make you look rich to at least some people.
When I had my $2500 Saab, some people assumed I was rich... which I didn’t expect at all.
